Are you getting in your own way in your work with clients? Do you have certain clients who evoke strong feelings in you? Are there clients whose sessions you dread? Do you have clients who you care about too much? Many times, the factors that are preventing optimal client progress are not in the client, but in the therapist. In this workshop, we will co-create a safe space so that you can use art experiments, movement techniques, sand tray, music, and other experiential play therapy strategies to explore how you might be getting in your own way and how to move yourself forward so that you are not the roadblock to your client’s progress. Research has shown that the more insight you have into your own issues the more effective you are as a counselor, so let’s explore.
